I’m Léa alias Auregann, 28 years-old French girl living in Berlin. Before that, I was living in Bretagne. Apart from my day job (which is amazing, but that’s not the topic here), I’m a singer, I sing in a choir, I sing breton dancing music, I already did a few covers, I work on a cappella arrangements, but I never wrote any song on my own. Now I want to write my own songs, so I can bring them on stage and make people happy while dancing.
So what’s this project?
I’d like to write twelve songs in 2018, collaborating with other musicians, recording demos, and eventually, have enough songs to play them on stage or even process an album. I have no idea how to do it, but I’m going to do it anyway, learn while doing, and I will write down my experiences on this blog, documenting it with texts, pictures and sound samples.
To find inspiration, I will pick up some random constraints. I thought about six categories:
type of dance,
music inspiration,
instrument and guest,
lyrics inspiration,
language,
and bonus constraint.
For the first four, I listed twelve ideas, and I’m going to pick one of each, randomly, before starting working on a new song. I hope this is going to help me start writing.
By the way, this project is directly inspired from the amazing French Youtuber PV Nova, go check his work if you don’t know him yet.
How is it going to work?
I’ll pick up one thing randomly in each of the categories, and start working on a piece combining these. For the special instrument, I’d like to work with another musician, who will be part of the writing process and recording!
I don’t have a precise calendar. When I start working on a new song, I’ll try to have a lot of things done in one day – but I also know that creation needs time, and I’ll continue working on the pieces after that. Ideally, I’d like to finish everything in 2018, but who knows? Let’s see what life brings in the meantime.
I’ll post content here as much as possible. An announcement for each new piece of course, with the constraints, asking you to give ideas for the bonus. Pictures, notes, deep thoughts, recording samples, whatever comes to my mind.
That’s cool! Can I help with something?
Definitely! First, feel free to follow this blog, and leave a comment from time to time, I’d be super happy =) Especially, when I announce a new project, I’ll ask for the bonus constraint, and you can leave a comment to suggest a nice and funny idea to add to my composing process.
If you’re a musician in Berlin or have connections, don’t hesitate to contact me. I start from scratch in my flat, only with my guitar and my microphone, but I’ll be happy to meet other people on the way, collaborate with musicians, improve my technique and my devices.
Bodhrán and banjo. Need I say more!
